Ruby-Zoisite

Ruby-Zoisite is the natural combination of green Zoisite and opaque Ruby crystals in one stone. Ruby-Zoisite comes in a range within three different contrasting colors: green, black and light pink to dark red.
It was first found, and has only ever been found, in Tanzania.
Ruby-Zoisite’s name is slightly shortened from “Ruby-in-Zoisite” otherwise known to the local Maasai people as “Anyolite” which is derived from their word for “green”, anyoli. Ruby-Zoisite has a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, and is therefore moderately hard and suitable for most types of jewelry.
